Tools

This web page contains links to different web and mobile testing tools, wildly used in Quality Assurance and Test Automation world.

UI Functional End-To-End Testing

Selenium WebDriver
Selenium is a suite of tools specifically for automating web browsers.

Sikuli
Sikuli automates anything you see on the screen. It uses image recognition to identify and control GUI components. It is useful when there is no easy access to a GUI's internal or source code.

Bheavior Driven Development and Test Driven Development

JBehave
JBehave is a framework for Behaviour-Driven Development (BDD). BDD is an evolution of test-driven development (TDD) and acceptance-test driven design, and is intended to make these practices more accessible and intuitive to newcomers and experts alike. It shifts the vocabulary from being test-based to behaviour-based, and positions itself as a design philosophy.

Cucumber
Cucumber is Aslak Hellesøy's rewrite of RSpec's "Story runner", which was originally written by Dan North. (Which again was a rewrite of his first implementation - RBehave. RBehave was his Ruby port of JBehave). Early versions of the RSpec "Story Runner" required that stories be written in Ruby. Seeing how much this sucked David Chelimsky added plain text support with contributions from half a dozen other people.

Mobile Testing

Appium
Appium is an open source test automation framework for use with native, hybrid and mobile web apps.
It drives iOS and Android apps using the WebDriver protocol.

API Testing

PostMan
Postman is a powerful API testing and development suite and a must-have tool for many developers. We make beautiful products to build amazing APIs and improve developer productivity. Postman is now used by more than 1.5 million developers around the world, and this number is rapidly growing. Postman is aiming to help developers, teams and companies build better connected software more efficiently.

Network Testing

WireShark
Wireshark is the world's foremost network protocol analyzer. It lets you see what's happening on your network at a microscopic level. It is the de facto (and often de jure) standard across many industries and educational institutions.

Proxy Debugging

Charles Proxy Debugging
Charles is an HTTP proxy / HTTP monitor / Reverse Proxy that enables a developer to view all of the HTTP and SSL / HTTPS traffic between their machine and the Internet. This includes requests, responses and the HTTP headers (which contain the cookies and caching information).

Fiddler
Debug traffic from PC, Mac or Linux systems and mobile devices. Ensure the proper cookies, headers and cache directives are transferred between the client and server. Supports any framework, including .NET, Java, Ruby, etc.

Performance and Stress testing

JMeter
The Apache JMeter™ application is open source software, a 100% pure Java application designed to load test functional behavior and measure performance. It was originally designed for testing Web Applications but has since expanded to other test functions.

Security Testing

Burp
Burp Suite is an integrated platform for performing security testing of web applications. Its various tools work seamlessly together to support the entire testing process, from initial mapping and analysis of an application's attack surface, through to finding and exploiting security vulnerabilities.

Unit Testing

JUnit
JUnit is a simple framework to write repeatable tests. It is an instance of the xUnit architecture for unit testing frameworks.

TestNG
TestNG is a testing framework inspired from JUnit and NUnit but introducing some new functionalities that make it more powerful and easier to use.

Mockito
Mockito is a mocking framework that tastes really good. It lets you write beautiful tests with clean & simple API. Mockito doesn’t give you hangover because the tests are very readable and they produce clean verification errors.

Hamcrest
Provides a library of matcher objects (also known as constraints or predicates) allowing 'match' rules to be defined declaratively, to be used in other frameworks. Typical scenarios include testing frameworks, mocking libraries and UI validation rules.

Build Automation and Continuous Integration tools

Maven
Apache Maven is a software project management and comprehension tool. Based on the concept of a project object model (POM), Maven can manage a project's build, reporting and documentation from a central piece of information.

Gradle
From command line to IDE to continuous integration, only one Enterprise build automation system to rule them all. Declare and execute all tasks necessary to compile, test, package and ship multi-language multi-platform multi-project and multi-channel software, SaaS and Mobile Apps.

Docker
Docker is an open platform for building, shipping and running distributed applications. It gives programmers, development teams and operations engineers the common toolbox they need to take advantage of the distributed and networked nature of modern applications.

Jenkins
Jenkins is an award-winning, cross-platform, continuous integration and continuous delivery application that increases your productivity. Use Jenkins to build and test your software projects continuously making it easier for developers to integrate changes to the project, and making it easier for users to obtain a fresh build. It also allows you to continuously deliver your software by providing powerful ways to define your build pipelines and integrating with a large number of testing and deployment technologies.
